Photos
Attaching photos in chat, the real limits, and where they show up afterwards.
Photos are attached in chat, on the same message you use to describe the problem. They travel with the request and stay visible on the work order afterwards.
At a glance
| Where | Attach in /resident/chat; view later under Photos on the request at /resident/work-orders |
| Who | Residents who have accepted AI consent |
| What you can do | Attach up to 5 image files per message, preview one full-size, remove one before sending, reopen them later on the request |
| What you cannot do yet | Add a photo to a request after the fact, delete a photo you already sent, or attach anything that is not an image |
Attach photos to a message
- In
/resident/chat, press + (Add photo) next to the message box. - On a computer the menu offers one option, Upload image. On a phone a sheet slides up with Take photo, which opens the camera, and Add photo, which picks images you already have.
- Pick up to 5 images. They appear as thumbnails above the message box, under the caption Up to 5 per message.
- Check them: tap a thumbnail to see it full size, and press the × on one to drop it before you send.
- Type what is wrong and send as usual. Your photos post as their own message with a caption saying how many were attached, followed by your text.
Rules and limits
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Photos per message | 5 |
| At the message limit | The + button greys out and its tooltip reads Up to 5 photos per message. If you pick more files than the room left, the extras are dropped silently — count the thumbnails |
| File types | Images only. The picker will not offer PDFs, video or documents |
| Sending with photos and no text | Allowed — the send button turns on as soon as one photo is attached |
| Photos shown on a request | Up to 10 in the gallery |
Where your photos show up later
Open the request from Work Orders and look under Photos in the left column. Every photo you sent for that request is there as a thumbnail; tap one to open it full size. The section only appears when the request has photos.
Not in the product
There is no upload control on the request page. The gallery there is read-only, and photos cannot be added to, replaced in or deleted from a request after the fact. To get another photo to your property team, send it in chat and say which request it belongs to.
Who sees them
- Your property team. The photos you attach land on the work order, and the superintendent and property managers working on it see the same gallery you do.
- The AI assistant. Photos you attach in chat are part of the message you send it, and they reach the assistant as they are: sensitive details are redacted from your typed text when detected, but images are sent without redaction. The AI consent terms dialog on the consent page says the same.
- Photos of the finished repair taken by the superintendent are stored with the completion record only, and are never sent to the AI assistant.
Keep faces, documents, screens and anything else you would not want on file out of the frame — a photo cannot be withdrawn once it is sent.
If something looks wrong
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Fewer thumbnails than files you picked | You were at, or went over, the 5-per-message limit | Send what is attached, then attach the rest in a second message |
| The + button does nothing | You already have 5 photos on this message | Remove one with its ×, or send and start a new message |
| A photo will not load on the request page | The link behind each photo expires after 5 minutes | Reload the page |
| No Photos section on the request | No photos were filed with that request | Send them in chat, saying which request they belong to |
