Report an issue
Reporting a repair from chat, and how to confirm the request was actually opened.
Reporting a problem means telling the assistant about it in chat. There is no request form and no New request button anywhere in the resident portal — describing the problem in your own words is the whole intake.
At a glance
| Where | /resident/chat. The request then appears at /resident/work-orders |
| Who | Residents who have accepted AI consent |
| What you can do | Describe the problem, attach up to 5 photos per message, answer the assistant's questions |
| What you cannot do yet | Fill in a form, set a priority yourself, or pick a time slot for the visit |
Before you start
Accept the AI consent decision first — chat stays locked until you do. See Consent.
In an emergency, call 911 or your building's emergency line. WorkCore is not monitored as an emergency channel, and a message here waits for the assistant and then for a person.
Report a problem
Not in the product
There is no separate report form, no New request button and no photo-only report path in the resident portal. Chat is the only way to open a request, and only the assistant can open one.
- Open Chat in the sidebar, or go to
/resident/chat. - Press Start new chat so the new problem gets its own conversation rather than being buried in an old one.
- Describe the problem in a sentence or two — what is wrong, where in your home it is, and when it started. The assistant asks a few focused questions from there.
- Add photos if they help. Press + (Add photo), pick up to 5 images per message, and check the thumbnails before sending. See Photos.
- Press Enter or the arrow (Send message). A Thinking… indicator appears and the reply types itself out.
- Answer the follow-up questions in the same conversation. When the assistant has enough, it opens the request and tells you so in its reply.
Confirm it was received
The reply text is the only confirmation chat gives you, so check the request yourself:
- Open Work Orders in the sidebar.
- Look for a new row at the top of the list, with the status Submitted and today's date under Submitted. The list refreshes on its own every 60 seconds and whenever you come back to the tab, so reload if you are impatient.
- Open the row to see the description that was filed, the reference for the request, and any photos that went with it. That page is where you follow the repair from now on.
If nothing appears after a reload, the request was not opened. Say so in the same conversation — "was that submitted?" — or contact your property team directly.
Not shipped yet
Chat shows no "request created" confirmation card, and the conversation is not linked to the request it produced. Your work-order list is the record of what was filed; the conversation is just where you said it.
Rules and limits
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Photos per message | 5. The + button greys out at 5, and extra files you pick are dropped without a warning |
| Photos on the request | The gallery on the request shows up to 10 |
| Message length | No limit |
| Who sets the priority and category | The assistant, from what you describe — there is no control for either |
| Where the request appears | /resident/work-orders, refreshing every 60 seconds and on window focus |
If something looks wrong
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The assistant says it opened a request, but the list is empty | The list has not refreshed, or nothing was opened | Reload the page. Still empty after a reload: ask in the same conversation, then contact your property team |
| Waiting for property-team approval on an amber card | Your property team has to sign off before the assistant goes further | Nothing to do; the team continues it from their side |
| The assistant could not finish | The turn broke off before anything was filed | Send the message again. For anything urgent, contact your property team directly instead of retrying |
| No maintenance requests yet on the work-order list | Nothing has ever been filed for you | Report the problem in chat first |
