Consent
The AI consent decision a resident makes before chat and the work-order tracker open.
The first screen in the resident portal asks whether the AI assistant may use your information to help with your requests. Nothing else in the portal opens until you answer, and you can change the answer later.
At a glance
| Where | /resident/consent — also reachable any time from Consent in the sidebar, or Consent & privacy in your account menu |
| Who | Residents. Anyone else who opens a /resident/... address is sent to the sign-in page |
| What you can do | Read the terms, press I agree or Use non-AI support, revoke a consent you already gave |
| What you cannot do yet | Open chat or your work-order list until you accept — declining and revoking both keep them locked |
Before you start
Until you answer, Chat and Work Orders in the sidebar are not links: each carries a Locked badge and the tooltip "Accept AI assistant consent to unlock". Search is switched off and reads Search unlocks with AI consent. Typing either address by hand brings you back here.
Make the decision
- Open
/resident/consent. The card is headed AI assistant consent and summarizes what the assistant does: it uses only the details needed to help you, and sensitive data such as SIN, banking or medical information is redacted from your messages when detected. - Press Read the full AI consent terms. The AI consent terms dialog lists what the assistant may use if you agree, then what is redacted from your text when detected before it reaches the assistant. Photos are not redacted, so keep sensitive details out of them.
- Press I agree to accept, or Use non-AI support to decline. Either button reads Recording… while your answer is saved.
Both answers are recorded, and both are real. Accepting opens /resident/chat straight away;
declining returns you here with your choice on file.
What each answer opens
| Answer | What you see next | What it opens |
|---|---|---|
| I agree | Consent recorded, with the green note Consent accepted and a Continue to chat button | Chat, the work-order tracker, search, and the assistant's ability to open requests for you |
| Use non-AI support | Use human contact, with the amber note AI assistant declined and a Go back button | Nothing inside the portal — chat and the tracker stay locked |
Declining does not create another way to file a request inside WorkCore; there is no non-AI request form. It records that you said no and points you at a contact card headed Your property management team — your building's name appears there instead when WorkCore knows it. The card says that declining changes nothing about how you reach your property team: the front desk, phone number and email you already use stay exactly as they are, and in an emergency you call 911 or your building's emergency line. Some properties show a direct email address on that card; most show the general reminder instead.
Once accepted, the page keeps the record: the decision, that it was made in the resident portal, the time (in your own time zone, with no time-zone label) and the version of the terms you agreed to.
Change your mind
Press Revoke consent on the Consent recorded page. A dialog asks Revoke AI consent? and warns that "AI assistant chat and your work-order tracker stay locked until you accept again." Confirm with Revoke consent.
Revoking is not deleting: the decision itself is recorded, chat and the tracker lock again, and accepting a second time unlocks them both. To re-read the terms without changing anything, open Consent from the sidebar — if you have revoked, press Go back there first to bring back the terms and the two buttons.
If something looks wrong
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No consent decision yet | You have not answered, so chat is still blocked | Read the terms and press I agree or Use non-AI support |
| "We couldn't record your choice…" | Nothing was saved; the line goes on to offer the non-AI contact option | Press the button again — you are still on the form, and nothing is half-done |
| "We couldn't revoke your consent. Please try again." | The revoke did not go through, and your consent still stands | The dialog closes behind this message — press Revoke consent again and retry |
| Chat and Work Orders still show Locked after you accepted | The page has not caught up | Reload; the consent page should then read Consent recorded |
