Assistant
The assistant panel a super works from, and what it can and cannot decide.
The assistant is a panel, not a page. It opens over whatever you are looking at, so you can ask about a job with the job still on screen — and it is the only place on the super side where a contractor gets dispatched.
At a glance
| Where | The Ask assistant pill, bottom-right of every super page |
| Who | Superintendents. It follows you from the queue to a work order and back |
| What you can do | Ask about a job, ask about contractors, send photos, dispatch, close or cancel a job, search the manuals |
| What you cannot do yet | Approve anything, pick a contractor from a list, or type a cost into a field |
Open it
Tap the pill in the bottom-right corner — Ask on a phone, Ask assistant on a wider screen. On a phone it rises as a sheet you can drag down to dismiss; on a laptop it docks down the right-hand side and the page shifts over to make room. Escape closes it.
Typing /super/chat works too, but there is no chat page behind that address: it sends you to the
queue with the panel already open. The pill is the way in.
What you see
| Region | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Header | Assistant, the thread's name or New chat, and Start new chat, Chat history and Close assistant |
| First message | What do you need? Ask about any work order — status, scheduling, contractors, or the manuals. |
| Thread | Your messages, replies as they stream in, and a card under most — not all — of the things it did |
| Composer | Type a message…, a + menu for photos, and Send message |
Enter sends, Shift+Enter starts a new line. While a reply is arriving the box locks and reads Assistant is responding….
Cards worth recognizing
Ask in plain sentences and name the unit or the work-order reference. When the assistant does something, a card follows the reply.
| Card | What it means | Buttons |
|---|---|---|
A work-order lookup, as WO-41 · Plumbing | The current state of a job, with a status chip | Open work order |
| A work-order summary | A read-only brief, captioned Read-only summary · personal identifiers redacted | None |
| A draft work order | Nothing exists yet — it is proposing one | Confirm & create, Edit |
| Contractor dispatched (green) | The visit is booked and the resident has been told | Open work order |
| Waiting for PM approval (amber) | Parked with your property manager — see below | None |
| Approved / Declined | A decision came back on a request to enter a unit | View work order / Find another day |
| Complete WO-41 | The assistant handing you the completion form | Open completion form |
| A manual answer | The passage that answered you, with a Source: chip | None |
| Couldn't complete (red) | The action failed: Try again in a moment. | None |
A reply with no card is not proof that nothing happened. Most actions draw a card, but some do not: closing a work order, cancelling one, and drafting an update for the resident all come back as words alone. If you asked for something and no card followed, do not ask twice — open the work order and read its status and Activity. That is the record.
Confirming a dispatch
There is no contractor list to pick from: you type the name and the time you agreed by phone, and the assistant then asks you to confirm with a single word. See How a repair runs for the confirmation button and the three things that can come back.
While an approval is out
A dispatch above your property's approval threshold is not booked, and the amber Waiting for PM approval card that says so has no buttons — approvals belong to your property manager, in a queue the super console does not include. There is nothing for you to press and nothing to answer: see How a repair runs for what to watch instead while you wait.
Not shipped yet
Two things leave no trace in the thread: a rejected approval draws no card and shows no reason, and a work order the assistant closes or cancels draws no card either — even though the close or the cancellation really happened. When the chat goes quiet after a request, open the work order and read its status and Activity. For a rejection reason, ask your property manager; they have to type one to reject.
Rules and limits
- 5 photos per message, 10 per work order. Attach more than five in one message and the extras are dropped without a warning, so count them first.
- The + menu offers Take photo and Add photo on a phone, and Upload image only on a laptop — there is no camera option on a desktop browser.
- No length limit on a message.
- Chat history lists your threads with a blue Approval pending chip on a thread that has a decision outstanding, under the note Titles are generated after the first reply. Sending from that view starts a fresh thread.
- With no connection the send fails at once with Not sent — you're offline. The text underneath says your message "is saved and will send when you're back online" — it will not. Press Retry now yourself once you have signal; nothing is sent for you.
