Completing a work order

The form that records what you did and marks the job resolved.

When the repair is done, you record it on the completion form: what you fixed, what it cost, what you used, and photos of the finished work. Submitting it marks the job Resolved and notifies the resident. Actual cost (CAD) on this form is the only cost figure a superintendent types anywhere in WorkCore.

At a glance

WhereMark complete on a work order, which opens /super/work-orders/…/complete
WhoThe superintendent the job is assigned to
What you can doRecord notes, photos, parts, cost and time, and mark the job resolved
What you cannot do yetPress anything that closes the job, or edit a completion once it has been submitted

Before you start

Do it after the work, not before. Mark complete is greyed out on a job that already reads Closed in your queue — which covers anything completed, closed or cancelled — and the greyed-out label gives no explanation, so check the status chip if the button will not respond.

Fill in the form

  1. Open the work order and press Mark complete — top-right on a laptop, full-width at the bottom of the page on a phone.
  2. Write Resolution notes. Required. The placeholder asks you to "Describe what you fixed and the outcome…", and that is what your property manager reads later.
  3. Add Photos — up to five, in five slots, and only the next empty slot accepts one. Pick more than there is room for and the form says so: 2 photos not added — 5 is the limit.
  4. Fill in Parts used if you used any — one line, separated by commas, as in "P-trap, plumber's putty". Each item is stored separately.
  5. Enter Actual cost (CAD). Required. Parts and labour, what the repair actually cost. Enter 0 if nothing was spent — the field will not accept being left blank.
  6. Fill in Time on job if you are tracking it, as in "45 min". The form reads the number at the front, so "45 min" is stored as 45 minutes.
  7. Press Submit completion.

What happens after you submit

You land on a confirmation headed Completion submitted, saying the work order was marked resolved, that The resident will be notified., and naming you as the person who completed it. Back to assignments returns you to the queue, where the job now reads Closed — the queue only speaks in Open, In progress and Closed, so a Resolved job is filed under Closed there.

Your photos come back on the work-order page under a Completion heading, below the resident's own.

Resolved is where your part ends. Closing the job is a separate step, and it is not a button: ask the assistant to close the work order and it will. Nothing is lost by leaving a job Resolved — the record stands and the resident has already been told.

Not shipped yet

There is no Close button anywhere — not on this form, not on the work order, and not in your property manager's console, where the control exists but is switched off. Closing only happens through the assistant, and when it does the chat draws no card to confirm it. Reopen the work order and read its status chip rather than trusting the quiet reply.
